Turning Pain into Purpose
The author behind Safe Haven is a dedicated mother who has navigated the harrowing journey of supporting a child abused by a stepfather. Confronted with a stark lack of resources and the harsh reality of family courts granting abusers access in the name of “father’s rights,” she found herself in an untenable position—forced to remain with her child’s abuser to ensure their safety. Driven by these painful experiences and hard-earned insights, she founded Safe Haven to provide the support and resources she wished she had.
While many articles will address the issue of abuse perpetrated by fathers, the content is designed to resonate with and support anyone in this challenging position.
In addition to her advocacy work, she is on a mission to reform legal protections by making the statutes of limitations for reporting child sexual abuse non-expiring in all 50 states and ensuring that survivors can seek justice long after the abuse happened. Currently, states with long or non expiring statutes of limitations include California, Nevada, Maine, and Maryland, among others. Her efforts are focused on creating a safer, more just environment for survivors and their families.
